The Digital Advertising Specialist supports the mission of the University of Washington and UW Continuum College’s Marketing Department by managing a wide range of digital marketing projects with the goal of meeting certificate and course enrollment goals. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position manages all paid digital advertising projects for the Professional and Continuing education programs, monitors and optimizes campaign performance, reports KPIs and more.
This position manages internal and external (e.g., vendor) relationships and identifies and recommends marketing approaches to increase program and course enrollment including tracking budget and evaluating performance of various marketing and advertising initiatives. This role involves independent decision-making, deep understanding of the rapidly evolving digital marketing industry, and ongoing relationship management.

Advertising Strategy, Implementation and Monitoring Evaluates digital channels to focus on for specific initiatives given business goals Creates year-round strategy for brand and certificate digital advertising and collaborates with project manager and creative team on timely execution for all deliverables Ensures that agency-run campaigns for the brand and certificates are meeting performance metrics Reports on paid digital advertising performance to stakeholders Provides guidance for all paid digital communication activities Collaborates with social media, email marketing and creative teams to ensure consistency across channels Relationship Management and Communication Manages digital agency partner and is first point of contact for all brand and certificate digital marketing campaigns Meets with academic program partners to review new program details or program updates to ensure ad campaigns reflect current program features Thought Leadership / Subject Matter Expertise Organizational expert on paid digital marketing trends and news. Presents on best digital marketing practices to partners as well as other organization stakeholders Participates in biweekly digital marketing meetings with members of the partnership marketing team and others from the organization. Participates in UW Marketing and Communications Roundtable
REQUIRED At least four years of professional experience in marketing (or closely related role), two of which must be specifically in an advertising or digital marketing position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to include: Demonstrated understanding of current digital advertising landscape including PPC, CPC, social and search engine marketing Experience using Google Analytics or ad platforms for tracking campaign performance; understanding of standard metrics used in evaluating performance of paid campaigns. Experience developing positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders (this can be internal or external clients or other key decision-makers) Strong organizational, editing, writing and presentation skills; ability to communicate about marketing-related topics in a clear, meaningful way to non-marketing professionals Experience managing a budget or part of a budget
DESIRED 2 years of experience managing full advertising campaign lifecycle (strategy, implementation, budgeting and performance evaluation) Experience working for or with a digital advertising agency Experience working in an education, non-profit or related industry Understanding of the broader marketing communications landscape & strategy, including content, email, social, PR, etc.
