• Seek and apply for relevant grants and contracts in coordination with other members of the Institute;
• Develop and execute research projects related to the Washington region's economic future;
• Maintain and update databases of housing construction, sales, demographics, and mobility for different levels of geography;
• Conduct both independent and project-based statistical and spatial analyses of economic, demographic, and housing data;
• Write research and project proposals;
• Write research reports and briefs;
• Prepare Microsoft PowerPoint presentations;
• Represent the Institute at public events and with the media throughout the region;
• Help maintain the center's website and electronic communications (i.e., listserv, social media).

• Five to seven years of work experience in public policy, economics, urban planning, real estate, or a related field. A Master's degree is strongly preferred and a Ph.D. in a relevant field may be substituted for some work experience;
• Advanced proficiency is required in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint programs;
• Experience with statistical software is preferred (i.e., STATA, SPSS, R, etc.);
• Experience with mapping software is preferred (i.e., ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.);
• Familiarity and experience with policy and economic issues in the Washington, D.C., region;
• Familiarity and experience with sub-national public data relevant to the economy, demography, transportation, and built space environment;
• Strong analytical skills;
• Experience in presenting quantitative data visually;
• Experience in researching, writing, and presenting quantitative research for non-technical audiences;
• Excellent communication skills including public speaking, writing, and media relations;
• Ability to manage and design research projects;
• Organized, flexible and able to multitask; 
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
