1. Manages the day-to-day operations and oversight of TFS communications related activities. 2. Develops and executes public relations strategy, output, and performance for TFS with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific and alumni media. 3. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, to strategize, develop, and implement communication initiatives that advance the strategic plan of TFS, and ensures messaging is aligned with the mission of TFS. 4. Tracks all communications related activities and regularly informs leadership of progress. 5. Supervises TFS consultants, student assistants and local partners as warranted 6. Provides communications related leadership and support for TFS Centers & Programs as necessary 7. Ensures consistent look and tone for all TFS communications, including written content, website and social media. 8. Identifies opportunities to work with other YSE departments, university publications and the Office of Public Affairs to develop and publicize stories. 9. Assesses TFS faculty, staff, students, Centers and Program and alumni activities for newsworthiness and creates compelling news and public relations content. 10. Creates engaging, dynamic content for the public, including press releases, blog articles, website updates, newsletter articles and social media. 11. Manages delivery channels for newsworthy content, including updating and maintaining TFS websites, social media accounts, and articles for email newsletters 12. Initiates, designs, and manages the compilation of program communications, identifying outreach potential and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Contributes to the development and assists in the management of content on the program's website and monitors all changes and additions to the editorial content.
Preferred Education: MS degree in Environmental Science with emphasis in Natural Resource Management and Conservation. Experience with developing and implementing a communications program. 5 years (combined) experience in community service, research, education, and outreach. Experience leading international stakeholders in education related to achieving sustainable forest management and conservation worldwide.
