The Communications & UX Specialist is responsible for curating the Bronfman Center's official voice and visual look. They manage all organizational branding, communications, and marketing efforts. They report directly to the Manager of Student Impact and work closely with the Student Impact team to oversee all external communications for students. Additionally, the Communications & UX Specialist works with the Development team to coordinate communications for alumni, parents, and donors, and manages the b|hive story collective — an internship experience for students passionate about storytelling and content creation.
Responsibilities
- Create and edit semester-to-semester and year-to-year communications plans. This includes: calendering daily external communications, budgeting/allocating communications-related spending, and hiring, training, and managing b|hive interns.
Recruit, train, and manage with b|hive interns to develop story ideas, pitches and collateral to help grow the Bronfman Center's media presence.
Generate running leads lists of students to interview for series and one-off video, photo, podcast, or editorial content.
Design and produce evergreen content to be posted when there are gaps in the content calendar.
Create all graphic assets, logos, fliers, brochures, postcards for Bronfman Center programs and initiatives.
Provide assistance and wisdom for student club leaders, interns, and partners.
Create and update Bronfman website pages as needed.
Develop, in partnership with the Student Impact and Development Teams, and execute an annual marketing plan that builds awareness for the Bronfman Center and its signature programs among key stakeholders.
Vet all materials/channels for consistent messaging and visuals.
Write, edit, design and produce all online and print materials for the organization, including the weekly newsletter to students (bnews), the community calendar, donor communications, event materials (including Shabbat and holidays), informational one-pagers, presentations and reports, as well as items for special initiatives as they arise.
Manage all social media accounts, including posting and sharing, replying to direct messages, and engaging with content posted by students, alumni, parents, and partners.
Track monthly social media metrics and create mid-year and end-of-year analytics reports.
Stay up to date with current social media trends, paying attention to the changing social media usage habits of key stakeholders.
Staff 1-2 Shabbatot per semester
Liaise with Communications counterparts across the University and Hillel International
Attend weekly all staff and weekly Student Impact meetings, and other team gatherings when scheduled
Support and attend all large scale events including Shabbat for 2000 and Welcome Week
Support other Bronfman Center programs when necessary
Required Experience:
1-2 years of related experience in marketing, communications, web writing, online news and journalism, or website content development
Expansive knowledge of relevant social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok)
Basic experience working with both audio and video files and a basic understanding of multimedia editing software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
2+ years working with web accessibility, design, user experience, and/or email marketing platforms.
Experience workshopping stories/content in team settings
