Job Description:
- Collaborates with and assists the Faculty Program Chair with the high-level day-to-day administrative tasks to support the program.
- Coordinates the administrative needs of the program, including, programming, course management, student queries, and research and teaching support staff.
- Executes and coordinates Fundamentals Program events. This program has three large and several smaller events on an annual basis and the coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics such as catering, venue reservation, lodging, vendor confirmations, AV needs, equipment set up, and sets up other logistics such as time/date and corresponds with students and faculty.
- In coordination with the faculty chair, prepares and submits the annual program budget and authorizes and manages payments from the budget.
- Schedules meetings and manages calendars, for example, coordinates student meetings for the Junior Paper and Senior Exam.
- As the Program Coordinator is often the frontline contact for the student in Fundamentals, the Program Coordinator is also program adviser and must be fully informed of program requirements, curriculum, faculty availability and specialization so as to support students in all aspectsâ”administrative, curricular, and academicâ”of the program. When possible, advises students on their research and intellectual pursuits.
- Works in partnership with faculty Chair and faculty advisers to mentor students. Meets students in office hours weekly, available by telecommunication (6 hours minimum per week) and email every week to accommodate student inquires and concerns. The Coordinator is a vital link between student and question, student and faculty member, and faculty member and program.
- Manages communications such as gathering material for student honors, facilitating communications with college advisors (alongside the faculty chair) and program advisors, major requirements, and facilitating communications between the Program Faculty and The College; coordinating with Program Faculty regarding courses, for example, insuring that the required Gateway course is staffed and scheduled.
- Oversees program web page. This includes adding new students and their questions, adding new alumnae, coordinates outreach to alumnae and current students to solicit intellectual biographies; adding new core faculty and insures that links to their home department page are operational, posts announcements, including dates/time/location of events, posts news concerning student and faculty, adds or removes images and content, etc.
- Analyzes program budgets and uses a moderate/high level of authority to recommend or makes budgetary recommendations.
- Interacts with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Masterâ™s degree or above, in liberal arts.
Experience:
- Professional work experience in higher education.
- Specialized knowledge of college student development and event planning.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Mac and PC environments.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online organizational tools.
- Familiarity with Adobe graphic design/web development environments.
