Northeastern University's award-winning communications operation is looking for a Sr. Digital Designer to join a team of creative storytellers, including designers, developers, news reporters, multimedia, social media and media relations professionals. The Sr. Digital Designer works within the digital team to create user interface elements, motion graphics, and illustrations in support of the needs of the department. This individual must have strong visual storytelling skills and be versed in modern digital graphic approaches. A track record of delivering high quality results on deadline is a must, as well as a demonstrated understanding of the interplay between design and functionality. You'll be joining a curious, innovative and hard-working team of journalists, editors, media relations professionals, and social media producers who love creativity and collaboration. Experience utilizing design systems to create original designs.
Understanding of accessibility requirements.
Knowledge of usability principles.
High comfort level with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and XD.
Demonstrable experience of designing for the digital environment.
Ability to pivot design direction when needs change.
Strong graphic design and layout skills, with an attention to detail.
Create static and animated visuals to augment stories, reports, and special projects.
Design with a keen eye for design, typography, layout, and color.
Practice data-driven design, utilizing analytics to measure effectiveness of design choices.
Demonstrate critical analysis and problem solving skills with design choices.
Communicate benefits and risks of one design choice over another.
Collaborate with the communications team to bring original projects to life with compelling visualizations.
Clear understanding of brand and messaging guidelines while bringing their own point-of view and design insight.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment with conflicting and shifting priorities.'
