The Assistant Dean for Strategic Communications and Marketing in the School of Social Work creates and leads an integrated, comprehensive, engaging and effective approach to communications and marketing. As part of the Dean's leadership team, the Assistant Dean is responsible for providing leadership for communications and marketing in support of the School's strategic priorities and in line with institutional branding and marketing guidelines.
The Assistant Dean defines, delivers and monitors messages, strategies and media appropriate for a wide range of audiences. Working collaboratively with the Dean and the School's leadership team, the Assistant Dean is the chief leader and architect for these platforms, with an emerging emphasis on leading an effective digital communications strategy. The Assistant Dean's efforts are designed to bolster the School's reputation as one of the nation's premier schools of social work and its top-10 ranking from U.S. News & World Report. The totality of the communications and marketing efforts should promote the School's mission, brand and advancement efforts in the context of a rapidly changing communications landscape.
Education and Experience:
-Excellent management and leadership skills, with an ability to guide and mentor staff and contractors while delegating assignments as needed to meet critical deadlines. -emonstrated ability to gain consensus among multiple stakeholders with competing interests. -Demonstrated ability to partner with others to guide projects to successful completion while staying within budget and schedule parameters. -Ability to translate organizational programs and services into engaging and accessible stories and other content for a variety of audiences. -Demonstrated experience managing budgets and adhering to budget-conscious practices. -Ability to serve as a chief liaison among senior office leadership, staff, communications leaders and organizations across the University and beyond. -Demonstrated commitment to incorporating principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in all communication materials. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines. -Knowledge of graphic design principles and ability to professionally and efficiently partner with design professionals to produce high-quality deliverables within budget. -Experience managing a communications and marketing enterprise with a substantial web and social media presence. -Demonstrated experience using and managing a variety of online channels (e.g., website, blogs, Twitter) and monitoring and evaluating the impact of such channels to understand and influence organizational reputation.
