iHARP: NSF HDR Institute for Harnessing Data and Model Revolution in the Polar Regions
iHARP conducts data-intensive research, education, outreach, and cyberinfrastructure development that will transform understanding of the effects of climate change in polar regions. This institute brings together stakeholders and leading scholars in data science and polar science to reduce uncertainties in projecting Greenland and Antarctica’s future mass balance, associated sea-level rise, and impacts on global communities.
The grant-funded Communications and Operations Coordinator position reports to the Principal Investigator and the Executive Director for the UMBC NSF HDR Institute for Harnessing Data and Model Resolution in the Polar Regions (iHARP Center). The coordinator provides operational and administrative support to the PI and Executive Director and assists with day-to-day operations of the iHARP Center including: managing and providing support for project and program management activities; provides leadership for communications and marketing, including website content, social media, and other outreach; and manages iHARP Center student and employees.
Operations and Event Management Develops and implements an overall on-going project and program management plan for all iHARP Center activities, working groups, collaborations, meetings, events, leadership team meetings, communities, NSF reporting requirements, and the iHARP Center team including students and collaborators.
Communications Outreach and Web Presence Develops effective marketing communications and outreach plans, with target dates and execution milestones, for targeted audiences customized for events, working groups, and activities of the iHARP Center, leveraging the iHARP Center website, webinars, channels, and social media including LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube.
Grants Management Supports iHARP Center grants management and proposals, including research, drafting reporting language, and providing administrative support.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of related experience
Strongly preferred candidates with experience in communications, project management, business administration, or relevant fields.
