The Athletics Department at VMI invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications to tell the VMI story. This position will report to the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. The Assistant AD of Athletic Communications, will oversee the Athletic Communications office and provide support to the Coordinator of Athletic Multimedia. This position will work an extended schedule, including weekends and evenings according to demands of sport schedules.-Present VMI’s balanced program of academics, military and athletics to the media wheneverpractical-Produce relevant digital content/graphics for social media accounts, VMIKeydets.com, YouTube, etc.-Serve as primary contact for Football and other sports; oversee live stats and statistical information for sports as assigned-Write and disseminate news releases; arranges contact and press conferences between media and coaches, players, etc., when needed-Develop and maintain VMIKeydets.com, including maintaining gameday communication webpage for football and basketball-Coordinate the scheduling of photographers and assist in the scheduling of gameday broadcast staff-Plan, prepare and monitor athletic communications budget-Coordinates with Associate AD for External Relations to promote ticketing promotions, halftime entertainment and other events-Additional duties as assignedSuccessful candidate must have the ability to work under pressure and meet all deadlines. Experience with Adobe Suite and social media accounts preferred. Must be able to proactively adapt to an ever-changing athletic communications landscape that will allow for operational efficiencies and maximum productivity. Knowledge and proper execution of NCAA and conference rules and regulations preferred.
