In bringing together experts from both the public health and legal fields, the O'Neill Institute reflects the importance of public and private law in health policy analysis.
Job OverviewThe
Events Coordinator provides the technical expertise to support the Institute's outreach and communications goals. They assist with the Institute's online and social media presence, contribute to developing effective distribution strategies for O'Neill Institute work products, and assist with direct outreach strategies, including drafting email news updates, updated web content, and drafting press releases. As well, they provide general communications assistance to support the organization's central mission and goals, including maintaining contact and publication databases, monitoring media requests, and tracking Communications KPIs.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Communication Coordination and Outreach- Design and draft email communications via MailChimp
- Create program flyer and draft announcements
- Monitor and draft posts for social media accounts
- Provide communications support for Institute projects and events - approximately 5-7 events per month
- Disseminate O'Neill work products
- Draft write ups of publications and events
- Provide copy editing assistance for O'Neill publications
- Assist with the development of annual reports, summary documents, and outreach materials
Contact Organization, CRM Database Management- Organize, update, and maintain the Institute's contact database for effective outreach
- Reviews data on a monthly basis; removing duplicates, identifying tags, inputting and/or attaching relevant information
Website Support- Provide front end website updates on WordPress platform
- Troubleshoot issues with web developers as they arise
- Create and add new staff pages for new team members
- Create and track event RSVP pages
Work InteractionsReporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the
Events Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director to implement communications content and outreach strategies; and regularly engages members of the O'Neill Institute's staff.
Qualifications- B.A. in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
- At least 2 years professional communications experience that not only goes beyond just press work, but also includes online and social media content development, website content production and publication - as well as effective outreach to academic, nonprofit, government, and other policymaker audiences
- Functional knowledge of the following communications tools: WordPress, MailChimp, Canva, Survey Monkey, G Suite, CRM platforms, Facebook, and Twitter
- Experience with institutional communications, ability to work with changing priorities in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
Preferred qualifications- Familiarity with domestic or global health issues
- Fluency in English and Spanish
Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days on campus; 2 days telework). Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
