• Review, evaluate, modify, change and manage processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of the team training/challenge course and leadership programs and facilities;
• Using observations and reports on customer-use trends, develop effective long-range expansion and program plans to coincide with improved service levels based on defined marketing strategies. Ensure that effective delivery systems are in place to facilitate programs;
• Participate in the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to support departmental improvement. Responsible for assessment and program/service evaluation for Team Training & Leadership. Develop specific evaluation tools to assess related areas. Provide evidence, regular feedback, and data analysis for reports that document the contributions of Team Training & Leadership programs to student success. Develop evaluation tools to assess individual programs;
• Facilitate, market, and instruct educational and recreational team building programs utilizing The EDGE facility or portable programs at various indoor and outdoor locations as needed;
• Collaborate with other campus groups to enhance the educational and transformational learning opportunities for George Mason University students, faculty, and staff. Work closely with student organizations and faculty to enhance campus opportunities and collaborate on campus-wide events;
• Develop and grow the Team Training & Leadership programs for Mason. Collaborate with student organizations, offices and departments, and recruit student staff as facilitators and program assistants;
• Work with the Outdoor Adventures program and the LEAD office to develop appropriate collaborative programs that provide varied experiential opportunities.

• Develop and successfully implement revenue generation strategies for public and private schools, community, and corporate groups;
• Work closely with the Associate Director of Business Services to create, develop, manage, and monitor the annual budget for Team Training & Leadership at The EDGE facility and related programs. Ensure responsible and efficient use of funds;
• Direct purchasing and long-term budget planning;
• Approve the accuracy of invoices and payments for group contracts;
• Review and submit monthly reports that ensure adequate control and efficient use of payroll, financial resources, and inventory.

• Develop and implement an approved staffing plan. Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff in accordance with all University guidelines;
• Assimilate and disseminate a comprehensive body of information to employed staff to ensure effective team functioning, employee development and achievement of performance standards;
• Provide leadership, development, mentoring, and training to all staff;
• Supervisor for the following full-time positions:
  • Assistant Director, Team Training & Leadership, located at The EDGE facility
  • Coordinator, Team Training & Leadership, located at The EDGE facility
• Direct supervision of selected student/wage employees;
• Actively contribute to the success and implementation of staff development and training programs and events.

• Oversee The EDGE facility maintenance, repair, and replacement;
• Responsible for managing the reservation, utilization, and maximization of physical resources;
• Schedule The EDGE and other related programming spaces based upon staff availability, maintenance needs, departmental priorities, revenue generation, and employee development;
• Coordinate facility use and adaptation with university agencies;
• Liaison to the Freedom Center and the Science & Technology Campus;
• Ensure program compliance with Mason Recreation Facilities.

• Oversee the operation and management of Team Training & Leadership @ The EDGE programs in accordance with University Divisional and Department Policy;
• Effectively market and promote services to corporate, school, community and university groups. Ensure that the Team Training & Leadership @ The EDGE web site is maintained with up-to-date information;
• Ensure efficient and accurate records are maintained via a participant management database and a program registration/scheduling system. Compile reports to include facility management summary, facility usage reports and member visit reports;
• Conduct monthly and annual reviews of facility usage, programs, events and staffing for short term and long-term needs;
• Compose, compile, and present reports including an annual report summarizing the accomplishments and challenges in Team Training & Leadership @ The EDGE with information regarding facilities, programs, personnel, and services;
• Coordinate risk management and maintain communication and policies and procedures with the University Risk Manager. Serve on the Mason Recreation Risk Management Committee;
• Network with campus, community and corporate groups. Develop and implement marketing plans;
• Work with the Assistant Director of Marketing serving Mason Recreation to develop marketing materials, create communications plans, and ensure marketing is on brand, relevant and promotes all aspects of the area's programs and services;
• Ensure marketing requests are submitted in an intentional and a timely manner to help the area meet their programming and revenue goals, as well as to maintain visibility on campus and in the surrounding Mason Community;
• Oversee and manage the program's Google Business, Yelp, and LinkedIn accounts for outreach and engagement purposes;
• Oversee the development of The EDGE newsletter and mail marketing initiatives, social media accounts, and coordinate tabling at on campus and off campus events;
• Assist the Assistant Director of Marketing in identifying paid and unpaid advertising opportunities that will help drive traffic to Team Training & Leadership @ The EDGE and increase programming numbers;
• Represent the program at the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce meetings to maintain visibility, connect with businesses, and create cross promotional marketing and programming opportunities;
• Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director and Director of Recreation;
• Serve as the departmental, divisional and university representative on committees and task forces as assigned;
• Commitment to making an active and meaningful contribution to the university's well-being initiative;
• Support and take an active role in Mason Recreation departmental special events;
• Serve as a member of the Mason Recreation Leadership team.

• Master's Degree in recreation administration, business administration, student personnel administration, organizational development/leadership, outdoor recreation or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Demonstrated related experience including staff supervision and management (typically 5+ years);
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities;
• Ability to design and implement effective team training/challenge course and leadership programs;
• Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of leadership, experiential learning, challenge course facilities, programming, and assessment;
• Proven successful skills in business operations, revenue generation, communication, leadership, innovation, decision-making, and team building;
• Experience working in a culturally diverse setting;
• Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a changing environment.

• Experience working with students, community and corporate partners;
• Current or ability to obtain and maintain certifications related to position responsibilities (i.e., ACCT Challenge Course Manager, etc.);
• Current membership/involvement in one or more of the following professional organizations: ACCT, AEE, AMGA, AORE, NOLS, NIRSA, etc.

Salary: Salary starting in the high 70s to low 80s; commensurate with experience
