Madeira is seeking a Sports Information Coordinator to join the athletics department. Reporting directly to the Athletic Director, the Sports Information Coordinator is a full-time, 10-month employee who is responsible for promoting, documenting, and publicizing the accomplishments of The Madeira athletes and the athletics program. Responsibilities include:
Brand Communications & Promotions
Manage communications with news outlets and league officials, providing team/individual statistics and accomplishments for each sport.
Develop and oversee a comprehensive social media plan and calendar for the year that highlights the student-athlete experience and reinforces the school’s brand.
Schedule, coordinate, and provide photography for institutional needs specifically in athletics regarding individual, team, and action photos.
Maintain complete historical records, including photography and video archives, for the athletics department.
Ensure athletics web page and social media channels are accurate and up-to-date.
Oversee the design and production of printed and digital promotional materials, including game day programs, poster, banners, rosters, etc.
Partner with the school’s communications team to ensure consistency in design and formatting.
Coordinate on and off campus special events for athletic teams and our athletic brand partners.
Operations & Administration
Ensure a sports information presence at all home games and attend specified away game to compile highlights and promote athletic accomplishments.
Assist in game day operations, overseeing the filming and live-streaming of games.
Oversee the team stores and the ordering of athletic gear.
Plan and coordinate special athletic award ceremonies, milestones, and signings; plan and coordinate athletic admissions events.
Assist in tracking daily student attendance.
Management of school mascot and student representatives.
Work with the Admissions Office to identify prospective students interested in the athletic program; communicate and connect families with coaches.
Management of team uniforms and athletic equipment; ensure laundry is completed as needed.
Coach one season of a JV or Varsity Sport
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in sports management, communications, or similar field required; minimum of three years experience in sports information or related field
Working knowledge of the sports offered by Madeira
Enthusiasm for thinking creatively about digital storytelling
Adept at digital photography; ability to shoot and edit videos a plus
Familiarity with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite; ability to learn additional software as needed
Strong interpersonal skills with eagerness to build rapport and trusting relationships
Cross-cultural competencies and a commitment to inclusive and equitable practices
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles on and off campus
