Aquinas College, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) located in Grand Rapids, Mich., is seeking a qualified candidate for a Sports Information Director position in the athletic department. The Aquinas athletic department features 30 varsity sports and competes at a high level in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and nationally in the NAIA.
Duties & Responsibilities
This position will work directly with the Director of External Relations and Athletic Communications, the graduate assistant, and student workers in various functions of promoting Aquinas athletics, its teams, athletes, and coaches through the following:
Perform the day-to-day responsibilities of the sports information department, including writing game recaps, previews, news stories
Update and maintain AQSaints.com, the official Aquinas athletics website (via SIDEARM Sports)
Produce and create content for AQ’s social media outlets (@AQSaints on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), while creating graphics through design programs (BoxOut Sports, CANVA, etc.)
Keep in-game statistics at home events using StatCrew and PrestoStats
Assist with gameday management and training/oversight of student staff, including scheduling video streaming of home events
Nominate, vote, and recognize student-athletes for various athletic and academic awards
Produce game programs for home events
Promote AQ athletics to local, regional, and national media outlets
Assist with marketing and sponsorship opportunities and fulfillment of current sponsors
Help Director of External Relations and Athletic Communications with various projects and other duties, as assigned
At least two years of experience working in a college sports information department or similar athletics office
Knowledge of in-game statistics and website software (StatCrew, PrestoStats, SIDEARM Sports)
Strong communication and writing skills
Experience with various Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier)
Good understanding of social media outlets
Knowledge and experience working with video editing systems is helpful
Evening and weekend work is required, along with occasional travel opportunities with teams
Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred
