Video and Content Manager
Oversees video production services for the College of Veterinary Medicine, which includes the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) and the MSU Veterinary Medical Center (VMC). Produces and provides promotional, educational, and event-based videos to internal and external audiences, and manages the process for quality and efficiency. This position also manages web content for the College and VMC webpages, oversees the planning, organization, and publishing of web content. This position will be a member of the Office of Marketing and Communications and reports to the director.
Conceives, produces, and edits promotional, instructional, and event-based video projects, interviews, stories, and special projects. Maintains consistent brand messaging across all web and video projects.
Executes shoots on site/on location including audio, camera operation and talent directions. Additionally handles assignments requiring special audio needs, custom graphics, and animation.
Plans and performs all post-production tasks, including audio and music, closed captioning, and final editing using video editing software (Premier).
Uploads videos to the web and maintains the College’s video gallery (on web) and YouTube channel.
Works closely with the social media manager to coordinate video projects that fit the social media strategy and schedule.
Handles the planning, organization, and updating of web content, including writing, proofreading and editing web content.
Uses SEO tactics and CMS to maximize web search rankings, optimize content, and analyze user engagement.
Other related duties as required.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
The job requires: knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Media Technology, Telecommunications or Broadcast Journalism; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in videotape editing and production; conceptualizing and writing news stories, reporting on news events, and/or experience in a news room. The job may require experience in a field related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient with computers, digital video cameras, digital cameras, microphones, and video editing hardware and software.
Possess a strong working knowledge of Premier.
Proficient with a Content Management System and Search Engine Optimization
Proficiency using software appropriate to a marketing and communications office—Office 365, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
