With direction from the Director of Marketing and Public Information, the Communications Specialist is the primary writer on the team. They will be creating promotional material and articles for the Foundation, the President's Office and the college that communicate and strengthen Delta's brand and strategy. This includes feature articles, advertising copy, electronic newsletters, speeches, web pages, media releases and social media posts. The content must be written for a variety of target audiences across many communication platforms with impeccable grammatical accuracy.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE:
Generate story ideas, write and edit articles and copy for Foundation and college promotional materials. These will include: magazines, press releases, presentations, emails, videos, web pages and brochures. Work with others in department to edit and produce final products.
Write, edit and publish information directed toward Delta's financial donors and alumni. This includes writing and managing the semi-annual Delta College Foundation news magazine, Journeys.
Develop copy for recruiting materials, including but not limited to: viewbook, direct mail, web pages, scripts, brochures, news articles and social media.
Write and create electronic newsletters for key audience groups.
Work with the President's Office to draft and edit speeches, presentations and other communications as needed.
Write and post news and content to Delta College's websites and social media; and the Foundation social media site(s).
Provide assistance writing and proofreading award nominations and correspondences for Marketing, the College President and the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement.
Proofread letters and biographic sketches of donors for the Foundation's development efforts. This includes supporting the Graduate Student Award event coordinators by proofreading student biographies for the President's speech and coordinating with the Foundation Office and Marketing to produce the event program and press release.
Work independently to research student and alumni success story candidates. Interview students, alums and donors to uncover unique, interesting stories.
Assist the Director of Marketing with the Dateline Delta public TV program. This will include development of possible story ideas, scheduling interviews, conducting (off-camera) interviews, writing and proofreading scripts and on-air
