Nature and Scope of Job
The Director of Admission and Communications (DAC) is a member of the Wyndcroft Leadership Team (WLT) and reports to the Head of School (HOS). The person is responsible for the short and long-term strategic planning for enrolment management, marketing and communications of The Wyndcroft School with a multi-media approach that includes verbal, print and social media communication methods. With the Director of Development (DOD), the DAC co-manages an Administrative Assistant for Advancement who co-ordinates the administration of the admission, marketing, communications and development of the school.
Fully supports the School’s mission and is a highly engaging, positive and assertive ambassador for the School.
Effectively communicates the value proposition of a Wyndcroft education.
Works collaboratively and supportively with the Head of School (HOS) and DA to develop strategic long and short-term enrolment management, marketing and communications strategies.
Develops strategies for retention of current families and recruiting new ones, conducting special events to attract families.
Develops and ensures a comprehensive Parent Retention Education Programme (PREP) for the on-going retention of current pupils. This includes parent and pupil ambassador programmes.
Leads the application process, communicating clearly with families and references, reading each file, conducting assessments and evaluating the mission-appropriateness of potential pupils, selecting those who fit well into the school community. Arranges pupil student visits and screenings. Conducts school tours for potential families. Collaborates with the HOS, Wyndcroft Leadership Team (WLT), Director of Athletics (DOA) and faculty/staff regarding visits and admission events to ensure the best possible connection of prospective pupils and parents with the school.
Leads the Admission Committee, overseeing the process and evaluation of pupils against mission-aligned admission criteria.
Creates and oversees the New Family Welcome Programme.
Keeps educated about the life of the school, frequently interfacing with all constituents.
Keeps accurate enrolment and admission statistics, managing the school’s admission database. Provides timely, clear and concise enrolment statistical reports regarding admission and enrolment to the HOS.
Marketing and Communications
Identifies emerging marketing strategies, tests their effectiveness and reports their results.
Applies key principles of marketing and public relations to the school’s institutional advancement programmes.
Develops and implements marketing strategies to attract potential families to Wyndcroft.
Writes and edits publications designed to inform potential families about the school and the admission and financial aid processes. Develops communications for the retention of current pupils and PREP.
Responsible for the internal and external marketing of the school through newsletters, magazines, brochures, flyers, postcards, forms, advertising, press releases, social media, Website content, Annual Report and other forms of communication to internal and external constituents.
Responsible for content management and on-going calendar and other updates on the school’s Website; re-designs the Website as needed.
Responsible for all public relations and publicity for the school including working with reporters on news stories, ensuring an updated News section of the Website and publishing information on regional and national sites.
Responsible for writing content, photography, collecting relevant information, facilitating distribution of all publications, invitations, marketing, promotional and all institutional advancement materials. Edits materials for spelling and grammar, varying writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively.
Manages the production and print schedule of all institutional advancement publications to meet internal and external deadlines.
In collaboration with the HOS, is the main point of contact for the media and external community on communications.
Ensures consistency with school branding across all platforms including print publications and on-line.

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Three years of admission, sales, marketing, communication experience required, preferably in an independent school or college, including significant leadership responsibilities.
Experience in graphic design, Web-based marketing, Website management and maintaining a Web presence desired.
Proficiency with Adobe Design suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.) and some video production experience desired.
Demonstrated proficiency with data collection and analysis and its utility in influencing policy and enrolment management strategy.
Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to inclusivity and belonging.
Experience in a not-for-profit and/or independent school environment highly preferred.
