The Digital Project Manager is a two-year time limited position that will play a critical role in supporting the Harvard Public Affairs and Communications Content team on the redesign of The Harvard Gazette digital platform. Primary responsibilities include enforcing conceptual integrity of the project, aligning stakeholders to achieve stated goals, and tracking completion of all deliverables. The Digital Project Manager will guide the process, from input (discovery, research, goals) to output (strategy, design, website development) in close collaboration with members of HPAC's content strategy team, Gazette editorial leadership, and the creative/multimedia team, as well as any third-party vendors.

This individual will:
Work with stakeholders to identify and articulate business goals outcomes for the Gazette website redesign project.
Manage responses from relevant Requests for Information (RFIs) or Requests for Proposals (RFPs) where necessary to solicit strategies and approaches for audience research, design, and/or technical implementation, and to identify final vendor partners.
Collaborate with vendor partners but take the lead in developing overall project work plans and timelines, from initial stages through project completion.
Keep track and manage the project scope, developed timelines and schedules, as well as all other deliverables to ensure the project stays on track. Document the process and communicate the progress to stakeholders.
Troubleshoots challenges that arise and develop action plans to address problems.
Be a champion the Gazette redesign project from start to finish
Document progress and communicate regularly and effectively with leadership, team members, and other stakeholders.
Develop and implement project plans, negotiating an appropriate balance among established practices, available resources, and opportunities for innovation.
Contribute to broader activities of HPAC
Assist in selection and implementation of project management tools (software) that can work across teams and keep the department organized.
Participate in and contribute to internal team meetings and activities focused on the practices of content strategy, social media, data analytics, user research, user experience, and other digital innovations.
Contribute to discussions and documentation of best practices, especially on topics relating to project management, but also toward the management of all best practice topics, and the evangelism of best practices in general through outreach and events such as the digital academy.
Consult on the management of content and other digital assets, including, but not limited to rich text, photography, video, events, and other structured data and assist as needed with the systems we use for content management, events management, email delivery, and digital asset management.
This role works across HPAC teams and functions to integrate activities, tools and information in service to broaden overall departmental priorities.

This is a two-year, time-limited position with an expected end date of September 30, 2024. This position will be based at our campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts and will require some on campus days with opportunities to work remotely as aligned with business needs.

BA/BS degree and two or more years of work experience that includes project management capabilities for web sites and/or related digital properties or technologies.
Understanding of online journalism
Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
Aptitude for learning and applying new technologies quickly and effectively
Proven successful work experience in higher education, digital media, publishing, web technology, and/or content strategy
Demonstrated ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of expertise
Experience using project or product management technology tools and applications
Ability to work consistently and constructively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment
Understanding of accessibility best practices for online news, video, and photography
