Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Sports Information Coordinator is involved in all aspects of gathering and disseminating sports information and maintains regular contact with Frederick Community College's
NJCAA, Region 20 and MD
JUCO Division II teams and coaches to provide information to the media, the campus and the public, and is responsible for all content on the official athletics website (
www.fccathletics.com) and social media networks. Responsibilities include developing favorable public attention and image for the various sports teams, coaches and athletic department utilizing a variety of communications media and other appropriate outlets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Manage media relations for all men's and women's athletic teams, student-athletes and coaches.
2. Develop an annual media plan for promotion of FCC's NJCAA, Region 20 and MDJUCO Division II sports programs.
3. Maintain statistical and historical records of athletic events, teams and athletes.
4. Assist the Director of Athletics with the leadership responsibilities for game-day set-up, procedures and accommodations related to officials, security, contestants, workers, and athletic trainers. Secure officials for all home FCC athletic events.
5. Coordinate all livestream needs for FCC sports programs.
6. Assist the Director of Athletics in advising coaching staff on the public relations aspect of their work for developing a positive image of the Frederick Community College Athletics program.
7. Keep internal community informed of athletics news via campus e-mails, Web site, Communication Central, etc.
8. Assist the Director of Athletics in the development of all athletics team competition and practice schedules.
9. Serve as Frederick Community College's official statistician. Oversee compilation and reporting of statistics on teams, individuals and coaches.
10. Write recaps for all games along with pictures and graphics.
11. Provide daily oversight on social media networks for the Athletic Department.
12. Coordinate production of athletic publications, including home game programs, schedules and developing recruiting materials for prospective student-athletes.
13. Serve as the primary liaison to the media and ensure the timely dissemination of accurate information, including news releases, event results, and statistics for multiple programs.
14. Coordinate the daily maintenance and development of the official
FCC Athletics website (
www.fccathletics.com) and assure rosters, schedules, record books, etc., are updated in a timely manner to increase visibility to such groups as recruits, media, alumni, and fans.
15. Report scores and statistics as per NJCAA, Region 20 and MD JUCO Conference guidelines.
16. Nominate student-athletes, coaches and staff members for performance and academic conference and national awards for the NJCAA, Region 20 and MD JUCO.
17. Serve as Athletics Photographer to develop high-performing digital imagery for the FCC Athletics official website and social media channels.
18. Compile and maintain player and coach biographical information.
19. Collaborate with coaches in selecting an athlete weekly and provide a student athlete spotlight feature story.
20. Serve as the liaison between athletics, marketing and communications office on use of the Cougars logo; facilitate process of logo requirements and acceptance.
21. Assist the Director of Athletics with the annual Hall of Fame event.
22. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Salary: $55,950 - $61,545 annually
