Post Production SpecialistAbout the OpportunityAs Northeastern University continues to experience tremendous momentum, we seek a Post-Production Specialist to bring innovative ways to inspire and engage our audiences through exceptional visual content, delivered in a variety of settings. A key player on a fast-paced, three-person video team, the Post-Production Specialist has expertise in producing animation and live-action projects from conception to delivery. This creative video production professional reports to the Director of Video and works alongside the Videographer/Assistant Producer, wielding expertise in video editing, visual effects, motion graphic design, animation, color grading, and sound design, to advance our fundraising mission. The Post-Production Specialist executes the assembly, and completion of news and gift stories, short documentaries, event videos, and marketing pieces like sizzle reels. S/he brainstorms project ideas with fundraising clients, develops storyboards for approval, collaborates with other production staff to establish visual strategy and collect visual assets, and delivers quality rough and final cuts in a timely manner. This person also assists with organization and archival efforts to maintain necessary access to footage and projects of the Advancement video team. The ideal candidate will take on ambitious and challenging projects, adding new skills and experiences to his/her portfolio. Advancement team members value big ideas and support one another by sharing their feedback, time, and talent. The Post-Production Specialist should enjoy working in a collaborative environment where creativity, initiative, passion, and humor are highly valued.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Art/Design, Communications, TV/Radio/Film, or related field
- 3-5 years of related professional experience
- Deep knowledge of relevant Adobe Creative Suite post-production applications (Premiere, After Effects, Encoder, and Prelude), color grading software, and sound editing applications
- Familiarity with video camera use
- Familiarity with graphic design concepts and tools (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator)
- Fluency with codecs, web standards, and analytics as required for effective project publishing
- Proficiency with 3D animation software (Cinema 4D or Maya)
- Social media familiarity, especially video sharing platforms
- The ability to work well with diverse audiences, manage workload independently at times, and oversee ongoing projects concurrently
- Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Filming, web coding/design, or photography experience are definite plus
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESClient outreachThe Post-Production Specialist will have the ability to work with clients from all areas and levels, helping them determine how the project will be executed and what the appropriate modes of delivery are. This person will help clients comprehend the best ways to use video. They will use the project request form to keep all parties informed about the goals, deadline, and vision of each project.
Concept development and project planningThe Post-Production Specialist will translate ideas into compelling pitches and executable plans. They will work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to establish a clear understanding of each project's goals and scope. This person will craft project proposals with clear, organized, and succinct writing that can be presented to individuals and groups. They will employ storyboards, still images, and sample videos so that clients and colleagues can provide more informed feedback.
Content distributionThe Post-Production Specialist will effectively use the university's websites and social media channels for distribution, as they are the engagement vehicles that have the highest requirement for fresh, engaging content. This person will regularly contribute to video delivery and maintenance, which is critical to fundraising success. Using strong organizational skills, s/he will post and tag video content for the Advancement video library, as well as make recommendations about posting based on relevant data.
Creating and delivering visually compelling contentThe Post-Production Specialist will work both independently and in collaboration with Advancement colleagues to develop, create, and distribute content for events, university websites, social media channels, broadcast, and other communication platforms. They will assemble and revise early drafts, as well as apply advanced motion graphics and effects in the final stages of post-production. This person will take the creative lead on projects that are more motion graphic/animation intensive.
