Reporting to the Director of Communications, responsibilities for this position include:  

• Production of ETSU Athletics and University publications
• Community public relations
• Event management
• Serves as liaison between university coaches and student-athletes and the local, state, and national media by coordinating interview requests, setting up press conferences, and media days, as needed.
• Preparing news releases and development of game-day publications
• Assisting with management of graduate assistants, interns, and other student help
• Serve as the primary contact for either football and baseball OR men’s basketball and men’s and women’s track & field, along with one to two other Olympic sports
• Assisting the media relations staff with game-day operations for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball
• Handles requests and questions on the phone and in person from fans, students, alumni, and members of the general public regarding the university, its sports programs, student-athletes and coaches.
• Promotes individual student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards and honors.
• Travels with selected sports programs to provide coverage of events and assistance with media operations as assigned.
• Maintaining the department’s website (ETSUBucs.com)
• Assisting with various social media accounts
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
• Applicants should possess strong writing, editing and design skills.
• Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms, in addition to Stat Crew and/or NCAA Live Stats experience with football, volleyball, basketball, soccer and/or baseball/softball.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Software.
• Previous experience working in a college sports information office preferred.
• Attention to detail. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills required.
• Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required

Master’s degree preferred

Required Work Experience

Minimum of one year experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division I and/or professional sports level

Preferred Qualifications 
Minimum three years experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division I and/or professional sports level
