COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Lemelson-MIT Program (LMIT), to develop and implement strategic marketing and communications campaigns that generate interest, engagement, and support for LMIT, a national leader in efforts to prepare the next generation of inventors and entrepreneurs. Will be responsible for public relations, marketing, fundraising and public awareness communications, and local community engagement. Responsibilities include developing annual communications goals and strategic plan; coordinating communications activities with key constituencies; maintaining publication schedules; developing key messaging and overseeing the development of presentation materials; editing and ensuring consistency across all communications; collaborating on addressing public relations needs; serving as main contact/liaison with MIT News Office and the press; developing annual marketing and fundraising goals, strategies, and communications plans; managing email and direct mail marketing efforts; drafting compelling solicitation messaging/documents; reporting on the impact of communications, marketing, and fundraising campaigns; assisting with community engagement/outreach, monitoring, and reporting; generating outreach materials; overseeing compilation of local community contacts for key stakeholders; providing social media and presentation training to LMIT programs; developing integrated communications resources (e.g., videos, newsletters, web, brochures, email campaigns, advertising, collateral, etc.); managing communications and community engagement budgets; managing LMIT's website; creating/managing brand guidelines and nomenclature; and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.A./B.S. in communications, English, marketing, or related field; four years' marketing and public relations experience, preferably in a nonprofit engaged in education-related efforts or in an educational institution; demonstrated planning, time-management, and writing and editing ability; experience managing social media and email campaigns, creating web content, and managing websites; and ability to work independently and collaboratively and focus simultaneously on competing priorities.
