Communications Manager will report to the Director of Communications in the Office of Marketing and Communications. The Communications Manager will promote Yeshiva University through a variety of methods, including writing stories, press releases and blog posts, assisting in the development of YU Today and VFYU and distributing campus emails to accurately and positively represent the University and help achieve its goals.
Serve as an editor, writer and communications specialist for Yeshiva University in the following areas:
Assist in the editing, writing and developing YU Today and VFYU by composing articles and interviewing profile candidates for these high profile publications
Write articles, Blog posts, news stories, profiles, press releases and other copy for key University initiatives, faculty achievements, the university website and other efforts
Help manage the I-Modules email system and develop emails and newsletter for distribution
Work with internal schools and departments to develop content and distribute key emails to the appropriate campus audiences
Manage the backend database and audience lists
Support internal clients with writing and editorial content
Assist public relations team on pitching stories to media and developing PR strategy
Assist public relations team in garnering positive news stories about Yeshiva University
Identify positive story ideas and develop promotional materials around those opportunities
Have a firm understanding of how graphic design, photography and other visual elements support the communications goals of the University
Experience & Education Background:
Bachelor's Degree in journalism or related field, as well as 5+ years experience in writing/editing/journalism in a fast-paced news environment
Skills & Competencies:
Outstanding written and oral communications skills
Outstanding writing ability
Excellent copy-editing skills
Strong researcher and interviewer
Understanding of the news cycle and social media trends
Knowledge of the Jewish community preferred
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects
