The Athletics Communications Fellow, working in concert with the Athletics Communications Director, markets and promotes Luther College through its NCAA Division III athletics programs, promoting the Luther brand through the stories of its student-athletes and the values that athletics brings to the student experience, the campus, and the community. The Fellow will assist with student worker mentoring and direction, social media engagement, athletics storytelling, and event coverage and follow-up reporting and promotions during overlapping home athletic events
In this position, candidates will:
Assist the Director in media relations, website maintenance, livestreaming, game management and in-game scorekeeping, statistical reporting, photography and image management, record keeping, and other duties as assigned
Train, mentor, and supervise student workers
Collaborate and coordinate with other members of the Marketing and Communications team, including the photo and video bureau and the social media team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Director in the supervision and training of a student work study staff of 14-21 students who are essential in covering Luther athletic events, including operating in-game statistical programs, submitting post-game files to the conference and NCAA, operating video streaming equipment, editing photos, writing news releases, and staffing athletic events.

Education and/or Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience in athletics marketing and communications at a professional or student level required
Skills:
Basic software skills in the Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat; Excel and Microsoft Word
Video streaming and athletic photography experience preferred
Knowledge of Genius Live Stats, Stat Crew, and NCAA rules and policies preferred
Excellent written and oral communications
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
