Illinois REALTORS® headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, seeks a qualified attorney, with a focus on the Legal Hotline serving Members of a large statewide trade association.
The main responsibility/primary focus is to maintain and answer the Illinois REALTORS® legal hotline through phone and email communications with members (not a public hotline)
Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues, dealing with real estate and real estate brokerage
Work alongside other teams within Illinois REALTORS®
Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure they comply with legal requirements
Provide training to Illinois REALTORS® and its members on related legal topics
Contribute legal articles, news items and other content for the various media channels of Illinois REALTORS®, including, but not limited to, e-newsletters, magazines, website locations and social media
Assist with and participate in occasional presentations to membership
Support the Legal Services team when needed
Cross-train between the Legal Services team, the Professional Standards team (REALTORS® Code of Ethics) and Governmental Affairs team
Must have a law degree from a recognized university
Must be admitted to the Illinois bar
Have at least 2-5 years of legal experience
Real estate transactions experience preferred, but not required
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others, including members of Illinois REALTORS®
Familiarity with real estate brokerage, financial, and commercial issues would be beneficial
Be team oriented
Ability to work independently with little supervision
