As a member of the athletics communications staff, the individual directs and oversees content creation, aggregation and distribution for women's basketball and additional sport(s) as assigned. This individual performs the role of an internal beat reporter, focusing on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media or other innovative formats. Duties also include generating and overseeing the distribution of record books/media guides, news articles and short-form video, stats and social media interactions. This position also works hand-in-hand with the digital marketing and in-game experience staff to develop the best fan experience possible. The individual is also responsible for developing external media relationships and managing media requests for assigned sports as well as managing game day media relations duties including statistics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
- 2-3 years of experience in athletics communications or similar field
- Should be an experienced and outstanding communicator and writer
- Experience with social media is a must
- Familiarity with marketing a program and a proficiency in desktop publishing (InDesign) and stats software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a women’s basketball program
- Experience in a collegiate and/or professional communications/content creation role desired, including managing media and statistics
