Multiple tenure-track positions to teach undergraduate and graduate students; establish and maintain a strong research program; advise students and supervise graduate research; provide service to the institution. Expected start date: Fall 2023.
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science and in software engineering. A Bachelor of Arts in computer science curriculum is near the end of the approval process. Being established is a Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education through which the department will offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in cybersecurity and maintain a strong research program. A Master of Science in Computer Science degree is currently the highest degree program offered by the department. The total number of undergraduate majors is approximately 875. Over 40 students are enrolled in the growing research focused master’s program. Average class size is typically near 30. The faculty is currently comprised of 33 full-time individuals. Miami University is ranked 22nd in the nation for its commitment to undergraduate teaching by US News & World Report. In 2021, CodeSignal assessed Miami University graduates as being number two nationally in fundamental computer science and programming ability. Miami’s software engineering program is ranked tenth in the nation by Tech EDVOCATE.

Required: Doctorate in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity or a closely related field (ABDs may apply but all degree requirements must be completed by date of appointment). Doctorate is required by December 31, 2023. Appointment to the rank of Associate Professor requires an established record of high-quality teaching and scholarship/research with a strong prospect for continuation. Ability to teach courses in computer science, software engineering and/or cybersecurity.
Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates with a record of published research/scholarship in computer science, software engineering, or cybersecurity and/or experience teaching in higher education. Areas of particular interest include: computer graphics/vision, parallel and distributed computing, computing and network security, or software engineering. Cluster hiring is currently underway in the area of cybersecurity to support the Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education.
