The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for preparing and publishing web-based content for the Fletcher website that supports and advances the school’s content and marketing strategy. This will include both telling the school’s stories and keeping school’s information current, accurate and complete, and helping to produce necessary supporting multimedia (photography, video, etc).
Essential Functions:
- Content Collaboration: Work with CPRM team members and other school staff to identify, plan, and prepare content for the website as part of the team responsible for executing the school’s overall content strategy (social media distribution, newsletter, website) in the context of Fletcher’s new brand voice. Provide feedback and ideas regarding the strategic use of multimedia to add value to the website content.
- Content Development: Contribute new content ideas- with respect to both subject matter and format, for consideration, leveraging relationships around and familiarity with the school, its marketing objectives, and those of its research centers and administrative units.
- Content Creation: Write, edit and publish short and long form content and supervise preparation/selection of needed supporting multimedia for appropriate content channels (website blogs or pages, website news features, administrative information, etc). Ensure quality and technical and web standards are met for all written content, that the content reflects the school’s new brand voice, and that it is optimized for SEO and overall web performance.
- Content Management: Make SEO technical and content adjustments as needed; assist with/ contribute guidance to the development of new asset management systems and processes (such as photography inventory) designed to best support the school’s evolving needs.
What We're Looking ForBasic Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired through the completion of an Associate's degree and a Minimum 3-5 years of website content creation experience with a demonstrated understanding of SEO and web optimization.
- Ability to work collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Extensive Website Writing and Editing experience strongly preferred. Multimedia experience preferred
- Experience working in Higher Education
- Experience and facility working with WordPress and/or Drupal
