Lehigh University (NCAA Division I, Patriot League) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania seeks a highly-motivated and passionate individual to fill the position of Senior Assistant Director for Sports Communications. The successful candidate will assist the Director in all aspects of the Sports Communications office in promoting the Athletic Department’s 25 varsity sports, serving as the direct contact for several sports throughout the year, including the men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse programs, while also leading the department’s storytelling efforts through a variety of mediums.
The individual must possess strong organizational and writing skills and the ability to identify and communicate compelling stories. Duties include but are not limited to: management of the athletic department’s website (Lehighsports.com), writing news releases, game recaps and feature stories, management of social media platforms, creating graphics for official social media pages and website, maintaining statistics, cultivating positive relationships with media members, archiving of historical data and other duties as assigned.
Experience in the following areas is preferred: The Automated Scorebook (Statcrew)/NCAA Live Stats, the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop in particular), video editing and production, photography.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field, along with 3-5 years of experience working in college athletic communications or a similar field, plus excellent interpersonal, computer, communication and organizational skills. Evening, weekend and holiday hours are required.
