We are looking for a talented creative producer and skilled writer with digital content expertise to help the National Gallery showcase its world-class collection and special exhibitions via the website and off-platform channels.
The purpose of this position is to deliver content that creates an engaging, immersive, and user-centered web presence by understanding and meeting users’ needs. The role is part of a strategic initiative to reach and engage a broader audience in support of the Gallery’s mission to serve the nation.
Reporting to the Head of Digital Content Delivery, the Digital Producer is part of a fun, dynamic and talented Digital Experience team responsible for engaging the National Gallery’s audiences, ranging from onsite visitors, to researchers, to educators, and beyond, in concert with our wider customer experience blueprint.
As part of the Digital Content Delivery team, collaborate with team members to manage day-to-day website content operations, implement new website initiatives, make strategic recommendations for UX and content enhancements, and develop appropriate plans, specifications, and metrics for success in consultation with the Head of Digital Content Delivery.
Serve as the lead web content administrator and central point of coordination among Gallery staff, website developers, and vendors as needed.
Advise on best practices around UX writing and design and role-model behaviors for the team and wider Gallery staff.
Develop and report on KPIs to measure impact and digital growth of the website and online efforts through Google Analytics, working closely with the Data Analytics Lead.
Prepare, publish, and maintain content on the museum website, working with stakeholders, subject matter experts and content strategists to ensure content is accurate, relevant, on-brand and published in a timely way.
Work with the Content Strategy department in the delivery of digital content, including forming part of the editorial process, assembling assets, clearing permissions, commissioning, and writing.

You have a solid understanding of digital content design, including researching, writing and editing web and off-platform content that responds to user needs and organizational objectives.
You are a confident writer with demonstrated experience turning scholarly material into accessible content for non-expert audiences.
You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to balance a variety of requests and inputs with diplomacy. You are an effective project manager with a demonstrated ability to negotiate competing priorities and deliver results on time and on budget.
You will be curious about user behavior and the impact of content, continually reviewing performance and suggesting improvements and experiments to improve engagement and user experience with content.
A writing test will be part of the assessment process.
This role is based in Washington, D.C., and is eligible for hybrid work in line with the National Gallery’s telecommuting policy.
