The USC Thornton School of Music seeks a trustworthy, knowledgeable, energetic and highly organizedÂ Communications & Media Relations CoordinatorÂ to join its high-performing Communications Team.
The Communication & Media Relations Coordinator will coordinate the Thorntonâs School communications campaigns and event promotion; oversee the USC Thornton social media platforms; coordinate internal and external initiatives including a news feed, e-newsletter, event calendar, and concert programs.Â The individual in this role will report to the Director of Communications. This is a full-time position with a hybrid-fixed work arrangement, with an anticipated schedule of three days per week on-site.Â Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change.
Principal duties include:
Coordinate communications initiatives including media relations and social media
Sustain and enhance the design and content of the schoolâs website, assisting in the evaluation and implementation of new upcoming and emerging web technologies
Coordinate, create and manage new posts, press releases, e-newsletter, production calendars for news feed, event promotion, concert programs and social media
Oversee event promotion campaigns for both internal and external audiences
Create an manage development of marketing collateral and production of the schoolâs online and print event calendars
Maintain and respond to internal inquiries on website updates
Serve as primary moderator of departmental and music ensemble social media channels and schoolâs website
Provide production support and coordination for vendors producing virtual events and digital media content
Track analytics data for website and social media accounts, ensuring accessibility compliance and high SEO performance
Oversight of student workers as assigned
A bachelorâs degree and a minimum of two yearsâ experience in marketing and communications, copy writing, social media, graphic design, and/or website management. An understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite is appreciated as well as online applications like WordPress, Mailchimp, Asana, and Hootsuite. Ideal candidates also have experience coordinating social media campaigns across a variety of platforms. A background in music is appreciated but not required.
Minimum Education: Bachelorâs Degree
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Marketing, publications, public relations, business administration, communication, advertising or related field experience. Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
In addition, the ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be a strong collaborator, a diverse skillset encompassing marketing, communications, media relations, and project management. A high level of professionalism and the ability to work both independently and as a team member are essential.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$27.00 - $31.00. ($52,650 â $60,450.)
This range is determined using internal/external compensation data points for similar roles in our industry. We evaluate the candidateâs experience, education, and unique assets they bring to the job.Â
