The Communications coordinator will work as an integral member of the MSUCOM Communications team and be available for occasional weekend and evening assignments. The Communications coordinator position includes is responsible for coordinating and managing social media, writing for the college’s news and other publications, as well as creating other written assets and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and Duties: Manage the college’s social media, creating social media calendars and providing intentional and engaging communications with our audiences via social media. Collaboratively manage assets on social media sites, such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. Write articles and other assets for the college and its departments. Create marketing content for the college and its departments. Collaborate with team members. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations or related field; at least one year of related experience in communications and marketing; social media planning, implementation and analysis; composing, editing and publication production; or news, broadcasting and print media; experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with search engine marketing (SEM) campaigns, search engine optimization (SEO), social media strategy and analysis; solid team contributor; confident with multi-focused assignments; ability to translate trends, technologies and metrics into accessible language; ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships; flexibility to be a hands-on team player adding value, supporting strategy, programs and all levels and teams; self-starter and independent worker who seeks counsel when needed; excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
