The Office of Scholarships serves as the programming source to potential and current students for informational sessions regarding scholarship opportunities at Indiana University. The department is dedicated to awarding the maximum amount of scholarships available to the most deserving students while striving to be informative, responsive, resourceful, compliant, professional and sensitive to students, faculty and donor needs.
The person in this role performs administrative duties in support of the university's daily communications operations. Areas of focus may include assisting in drafting and editing basic communications, educational materials, promotional materials, or web content; posting social media posts, press releases, or other digital content; and assisting with special projects. Work may include additional duties in support of other functions or administrative needs.
Acts as a liaison and point of contact with Enrollment Marketing and Communications in relation to the Office of Scholarships marketing and communications projects.
Ensures phone and email messages are consistent with all web, social, and print messaging.
Serves as an information specialist to students, prospective students, campus representatives and external publics on the policies and procedures involved in applying for scholarships, as well as provides preliminary information on matters related to admissions, scholarship eligibility, student accounts and other university related policies, procedures, and programs.
Corresponds with parents, applicants, currently enrolled students and campus representatives on matters related to resolving complex questions and issues relative to eligibility, competing offers, compliance issues and account discrepancies.
Provides operational support for a variety of scholarship programs to include assistance with the implementation of campus events and campus visits.
Acquires and maintains knowledge of a variety of Indiana University operational systems to include the Student Information System and Blackbaud Award Management as well as internal systems, Slate and ASANA, that support the delivery of scholarships.
Manages spreadsheets, prepares mailings, responds to inquiries, and provides direction for student employees on correct procedures.
Under supervision, performs routine administrative tasks related to communications, such as drafting, editing, or posting basic communications, educational and promotional materials, web content, social media posts, press releases, or other digital content.
Assists with editing and execution of mailings, interdepartmental communications, external communications, and email communications.
May monitor relevant social media and news sites and respond to customer inquiries to provide information and explain policies and procedures.
Manages accuracy of mailing and distribution lists; makes regular updates as there are staffing and/or process changes.
Prepares reports, communications timelines, and calendars; monitors progress of communications toward relevant deadlines.
Serves as a resource to lower-level Communications Assistants.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
This position may require some travel during peak recruitment season
Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license is required
This is an in-person position.
However, a hybrid work schedule may be possible, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
