Assists cooperatives in planning and preparing internal and external publications and materials to enhance member and employee understanding of cooperative programs and policies. Assists in planning and conducting public relations programs designed to create and maintain favorable public image for employer.
To provide maximum service to the cooperative:
Planning and helping the communications and customer relations programs. Ensures appropriate communication and member relations efforts for the organizations.
Build and execute social media strategy through platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
Participate in community service, school, and fair activities in the service territories.
Identity, develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to address specific needs for our marketing programs, including writing, design, photography, speaking, publications, audio/video production, social media platforms and events.
Create and write publishing articles for the monthly REC magazine.
Set up and optimize cooperative pages within each platform to increase the visibility of organization’s social content.
Provide assistance with graphic design projects.
Oversee updates and maintain social media accounts and website.
Create with information articles for monthly billing inserts.
Take photographs and digitally prepare photographs for use.
Assist with youth, community, school and fair programs.
Create and maintain external and internal publications and other marketing materials including gathering information, branding, writing, editing computer design and layout and proof-reading news articles.
Oversee preparation of educational programs for local schools and other civic groups.
Develop media relations, video production, podcasts and other related platforms.
Develop a communications plan to promote Cooperative Foundations and other Cooperative programs.
Represents employers during community projects and at public, social and business gatherings.
Evaluates, analyzes and recommends other public relations and marketing programs to CEO/General Manager.
Assists each cooperative in coordinating advertising efforts for annual meetings and charity foundations.
Manage and maintain the emergency action and crisis communications plans.

Education and/or Experience:
College degree in communications and marketing; and five years’ related experience and/or training, is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desktop design programs, writing skills and public speaking experience, is preferred.
Journalism or public relations experience, is preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, members and the general public.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent PC/Mac skills including graphic design.
Inside and outside work under various weather conditions.
Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
Traveling between cooperatives, on locations for community projects and some travel outside for continuing education/conference.
