The Global Business Center at Foster has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing, Communications and Outreach Program Manager to join their team.
This position will have substantial responsibility for the development, direction and implementation of marketing and communications strategies as well as community and regional outreach program management at the Global Business Center (GBC). The goal is to increase overall visibility of, support for, and engagement with the GBC through a variety of channels. In addition, this position will lead the regional outreach initiatives funded by the Center's federal grant. These initiatives currently include programs for 1) Regional businesses (export workshops, global business lectures, and networking), 2) Regional faculty (globally-focused curriculum development, research and business language grants; workshops; Northwest International Business Educators Network; AIB West), and 3) Regional higher education institutions including partnerships with community colleges and Minority Serving Institutions. Finally, this position will have primary responsibility for alumni and community engagement with the GBC.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing and Communications
Work with the GBC team to create an annual marketing/communications plan that includes all of our student, faculty and community programs.
Coordinate the GBC team members individual efforts in conjunction with the annual plan.
Prepare and edit written content for internal and external communications (social media, brochures, flyers, e-newsletter).
With the Foster School website team, manage the GBC's website (add pages as needed, create and update written and visual content) and advocate for global content across the Foster School's website.
Develop story ideas, interview alumni, students and faculty to produce high-quality profiles and stories for publication and for the web.
Gather information on national trends in global business and global business education and develop/recommend events/speakers focused on these trends.
Design and produce print and video marketing materials using software like Adobe CS6 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Publisher. Hire and work with freelance designers, photographers and videographers as needed.
Manage and create content for all GBC social media accounts; develop strategies for social media outreach and growth on multiple platforms.
Pitch stories to local media; work with other departments on campus to develop stories for on- and off-campus media; respond to media inquiries.
Follow local and national global business news.
Create and maintain annual marketing budget.
Create reports and make presentations as needed to the GBC team, advisory boards, Foster School leadership and other institutions.
Create and lead programs designed to meet the global business education goals of faculty, students and community members.
Manage Northwest International Business Educators Network (NIBEN) including annual request for proposal and grant award process/tracking; maintaining and updating network database/listserv; marketing global business faculty development programs; determining and implementing additional network services.
Support the growth of global business education resources and opportunities at community colleges and minority-serving institutions regionally and nationally.
Analyze gaps in existing global business education programs. Create and implement strategies to address gaps.
Track success, outcomes and data for grant reporting purposes.
Partner with other organizations when mutually beneficial such as the Jackson School of Int'l Studies, the World Affairs Council, the Washington Council on International Trade.
Design, market, deliver and evaluate programs.
Leverage the Global Business Center advisory boards in achieving success.
Develop program timelines, budgets, and objectives and manage to them.
Coordinate additional faculty/staff/student involvement as needed to accomplish objectives.
Develop annual strategy, objectives, and plans with on and off-campus partners as needed.
Recruit and engage community members and alumni with existing programming such as judging and coaching in global case competitions.
Continue to expand GBC's community network to include stakeholders with diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Create and manage annual community/alumni engagement budget.
Steward donors and partners to ensure ongoing success of the Center.
Manage a minimum of 3-4 events annually, including logistics, room reservations, catering, and program development.
Develop database of desired keynote speakers, ensuring diversity of voices are represented.
Respond to inquiries regarding partnership opportunities.
Market events to business school students, faculty and other constituents.
Assess success in achieving objectives.
Partner with other GBC team members in leveraging the programs they manage for community engagement purposes.
Develop and implement strategy for engaging foreign national alumni and globally-focused U.S. alumni in partnership with Foster School alumni relations.
Track alumni engagement and expand alumni database in Salesforce.
Support development and expansion of overseas alumni groups.
Provide opportunities for globally-focused alumni and community members to be engaged with the school and with meeting current student/school needs.
Attend alumni network events as GBC representative.
Partner with Assistant Directors of the MBA and undergraduate global programs in converting globally-active students to globally-engaged alumni, and leveraging the programs they manage for alumni engagement purposes.
Provide general Global Business Center support
Support major Global Business Center team events/projects including study abroad, global competitions and grant proposals.
Supervise student assistants in delivering position objectives.
Maintain excellent and detailed records, including program participation.
Develop and implement program evaluations and act on results.
Potential for international travel of 10-30 days supporting student programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in international relations, business, communications or similar plus a minimum of 4-years experience in marketing/communications, program/project management in a business or nonprofit organization.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Demonstrated experience with growing diverse constituent relationships and building a brand or reputation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation/public speaking skills.
Significant professional social media and event management experience.
Ability to be an effective member of a team while independently managing projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations/customers including faculty, students, business community members, community colleges, minority-serving institutions and local organizations.
Regional economic development experience within a global context.
Experience working with people from different cultures, overseas study/living/work experience.
Educational institution/university/fundraising work experience a plus.
Salesforce experience especially with application creation.
Video editing and creation experience.
