The Assistant Director for Internships plays a critical role in the supporting the Career Education team by providing leadership and support for engaging students in the process of exploring, designing and implementing career plans. The Assistant Director provides support to the College's internships programs including the academic internships, micro internships, and Goucher Intern Fellowship programs. The Assistant Director provides direct service to students through advising, presentations and events.
Essential Job Functions:
Internships Support: Support internship programs by managing the daily operations of the academic internship, micro internship and Goucher intern fellowship programs. Work with Associate Director on the collection and reporting of data relating to internships. Develop strategies for promoting all internship programs to students to increase student participation in internships.
Advising:Guide students through self and career exploration processes, and support students in developing career plans through individual appointments, drop-in and email advising sessions. Coordinate activities including group sessions, signature programs, advising events that provide information and assist students in making informed decisions which facilitate connections between academic interests and career plans. Engage students in networking and community building by connecting students with alumni, mentors, employers, parents, and faculty/staff. Develop resources and conduct trainings as needed for community partners to facilitate conversations about careers.
Presentations:Deliver presentations to student classes and groups on various career related topics including choosing a major, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing techniques, networking, and applying to graduate school.
Management:Provide oversight for marketing and social media management.
Internship Accelerator:Participate in the creation, planning and implementation of career programs, panels and events that support the Internship Accelerator.
Website:Coordinate changes and edits to CEO website.
Data: Collect, manage and analyze data on student involvement in CEO programs and services. Use data to make informed decisions about strategies to increase student engagement as well as support to meet student needs.
Required: Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education, or related field.
Required: 2 years of experience in career services, academic advising, experiential learning, higher education, or related field. Demonstrated experience in program planning and execution, group facilitation, and advising college students.
Preferred: 3 or more years of experience in career services, academic advising, experiential learning, higher education, or related field.
Salary Range: $47,380 - $55,741
