Description of Work:
The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction has an opening for a Communications and Events Specialist at the Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha, NE. The position will be responsible for multiple forms of communications, marketing and will assist in managing events hosted by the Durham School. The role is instrumental in planning, creating and sharing impactful content to increase the awareness of the Durham School academic programs and research endeavors. Regular travel between Scott campus in Omaha and City campus in Lincoln.
This position is responsible for marketing and communications, managing website updates, design and drafting of news articles and event reports, and social media. The selected individual will work in cooperation with the College Communications and Marketing team to promote visibility of Durham School success stories, events, programs and staff with a variety of approaches, both web and print and for both internal and external audiences. Position will develop communication and marketing material for Durham School research programs, academics, activities/events, students, faculty, alumni, staff and industry partners. Position will collect data and perform analysis on communication, publication, Google analytics and marketing effectiveness. Additionally, this position will coordinate research events, workshops, luncheons, and conferences. Event coordination ranges from invitations, site booking, catering arrangements and meal planning, materials, promotion, and general logistics. This will include representing the School at some local, regional, and national events. The Communications and Events Specialist will interact with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of professional experience in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations or design and/or professional experience in event planning and coordination. Excellent organizational skills, oral presentation skills, written communication skills and the ability to adapt to handle multiple tasks while meeting determined deadlines essential. Ability to work independently and with a team. Knowledge of web-based media, social networking and communication channels is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in advertising, public relations, communications, hospitality management, journalism or closely related field plus six or more years of professional experience in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations or design and/or professional experience in event planning and coordination.
