Carthage College seeks a graduate assistant to work in conjunction with the Director of Strategic Communications. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to collaborating with coaches, student-athletes, and staff to promote and messages pertaining to Carthage sports programs and events. This position will work creatively to create concept strategies for storytelling related to Carthage Athletics, including writing, social media, photo, video, etc. The position will begin in August 2023.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Serve as the primary strategic communications contact for assigned sports 2. Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and media members 3. Create news and feature story ideas for media and the school's official athletic department website athletics.carthage.edu 4. Assist with day-to-day strategic communications tasks 5. General knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite to create graphics for upcoming games and athletic events 6. Keeping statistics, maintaining program records, and other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in intercollegiate athletic department
Experience with forms of new media, including, but not limited to, website management, social media, videography, production, and photography
Experience with Adobe Creative Suites
Experience with in-game statistics, StatCrew, and NCAA Live Stats.
Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, media, and athletics staff
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking, multitasking, and organization skills

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Sport Management, Journalism, English, Communications, New Media, or Public Relations
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required
Full acceptance into one of the Carthage graduate programs is required
Strong oral and written communication skills are required
