Our mission is to provide an essential public good - high quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community for an expanding circle of people. WBUR is member-supported and licensed to Boston University.
Employees at WBUR are a team of professionals who value truth, diverse perspectives and candid debate, creating a culture of mutual respect, passion, and belonging.
We've got exciting plans to keep innovating and building WBUR for the future.
We're growing. And you'll grow too.
WBUR is a hybrid workplace, with a mix of remote, hybrid, and in-person work arrangements.
WBUR is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Product team of data analysts, software engineers, and product managers. This role reports to our Data Architect and joins WBUR at an exciting time: we are growing and our organization is requiring more and more data insights.
We are undertaking a major strategic transformation over the next several years. You will play a key role in this transformation by providing data and insights to teams across the organization, empowering them to measure progress and make data-driven decisions. At a time when the future of media, and in particular public media, is in question, this is an incredible opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the long term health of Boston's local and national news leader.
As our Data Analyst, you will:
Design, develop, and deliver dashboards and reports across a variety of data domains and business activities including web, mobile, newsletters, social, podcast, and audio platforms.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytics needs in order to create clear, effective data visualizations that will help them extract insights and make informed decisions.
Assist with requirements gathering, project scoping, progress tracking, and other project management related activities, following Agile methodologies and principles.
Ensure ongoing data quality and help identify and investigate any potential data issues.
Required Skills What Youll Need to Succeed:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience
2 years of related experience
Capabilities and Proficiencies:
An excitement about WBURs mission to provide an essential public good: high quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.
Customer-centric work mentality, committed to quality and openness to change and differing viewpoints.
Demonstrated ability to design data reports and dashboards using charting and reporting tools, such as Excel, Tableau, Looker, Oracle BI, or PowerBI.
Desire to learn and to work with SQL required. Existing SQL experience a plus.
Knowledge of or desire to learn data analysis for web, mobile, newsletters, social, podcast, and audio platforms.
Proficiency with web analytics tools, especially Google Analytics 4, is strongly preferred.
Experience with data from Salesforce, Mailchimp, Megaphone, Nielsen, Triton, ComScore, Chartable, Chartbeat, Spinklr, and Social Flow are all a plus.
Desire to learn and to work with Agile development practices required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to effectively work with key stakeholders, networks/partners, and team members.
Self-starter who can operate effectively in a collaborative environment, meet project deadlines and navigate ambiguity and influence stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills (ability to prioritize, multi-task) and work well in a fast-paced environment.
If you are excited by this opportunity and have a passion for our mission - whether you meet all or some of our criteria - we want to talk to you.
A cover letter is required for consideration.
