Detailed Description: The Assistant Director for Communications and Events will have primary responsibility for establishing, integrating, managing, and engaging with and cultivating SON alumni relationships, as well as establishing, integrating, and managing the brand of the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for enhancing the reputation, promotion, and visibility of the Hahn School of Nursing, its academic departments, and its websites. This position will manage print and electronic communications including social media outlets, to ensure effective knowledge sharing about the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science.
The Assistant Director will operate as a key member of the School of Nursing leadership team and will work collaboratively with personnel in the University Advancement especially the Assistant Director of SON Annual Giving.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Promotion of the SON
Actively manage SON's communications including, but not limited to, researching, writing, and editing content for feature stories and website content; photographer and art director; updating daily event and news listings; posting School specific content from other outlets; posting new content on the website and social media platforms; actively participate in School's social media outreach efforts.
Manages website content development for alumni and donors to the SON website.
In conjunction with the Dean, direct research, writing, editing, and distribution of SON print and e-publications.
Create and distribute Alumni special event fliers, posters, and other promotional materials for SON.
Establishing, Integrating, and Managing the Brand
Lead, develop, and implement an agenda for messaging, content, and branding.
Manages communication strategies and social marketing plan that enhances the reputation and visibility of the SON, and drives traffic to the website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
Develops short and long-term strategies for communication and outreach.
Maintain an active and vibrant presence on the SON's Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other sites.
Manage Student Ambassador Programs and their interaction with SON social media. Track SON's social outreach and reputation using available online analytics tools. Prepare and submit quarterly reports on trends and traffic and benchmark the report against similar and aspirational institutions.
Enhancing the Reputation and Visibility of SON
Work to enhance and extend the brand through all media to promote core values and attributes.
Serve as the liaison between the Dean's Office, University Marketing and Communications, and faculty.

Job Requirements: This is a management and leadership position within the School of Nursing and Health Science and requires significant prior experience and a successful track record with the varied responsibilities of the position listed above.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree.
Experience: Three years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, marketing, digital marketing, social media for business purposes, communications, web communications, and/or public relations. In addition, this individual will have proven expertise in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn), the internet, Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), knowledge of website content publishing software, and AP writing style.
Must have demonstrated commitment to and understanding of professional nursing at the graduate level and be conversant in cutting-edge nursing science and advanced practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters degree.
Experience: Five years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, marketing, communications, web communications, social media for business purposes, public relations, and managing projects that include web usability, project management, and/or production.
Previous experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment is highly preferred.

Deliver messages across print, online, and mobile communications
Work in a busy and changing environment with high customer service standards
Assume responsibility and effectively resolve problems by exercising independent judgment in meeting challenges and inventing and implementing procedures.

Posting Salary: $5,373.34 - $6,053.17 per month; Excellent Benefits
