The Division of Communications and Marketing is currently seeking an Executive Communications Assistant who will provide administrative support to the Director of Executive Communications and the University's Office of the President to execute communications messaging, projects, and priorities for this office.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
With direction from the Director of Executive Communications, researches, writes, edits/proofreads, formats, prints, disseminates, tracks, and archives correspondence and informational content, for printed, electronic, and verbal communications to a variety of audiences, including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, community members, and elected officials.
Provides ongoing management of the President's public-facing email inbox and coordinates responses with the appropriate University administrators and offices.
Researches information for talking points, reports and other communications, as assigned.
Assists with coordination of President's involvement in institutional events, such as commencement, new student convocation, and the State of the University address, as well as special events involving USC system campuses, community organizations, and federal, state, and local government.
Assists Director of Communication and President's Executive Assistant with monitoring and tracking incoming requests for presidential speaking engagements.
Interacts with USC campus units, USC system units, and community groups to prepare for presidential participation in upcoming events; as needed, attends in-person and virtual planning meetings.
Maintains awareness of current affairs and issues that may relate to the University via news media and social media.
Ensures that all outgoing communications align with USC's brand standards.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and at least one year of professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational materials
Excellent writing and grammar skills, with demonstrated experience in mass communications and interpersonal communications
Strong interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Knowledge of higher education organizational structure
Ability to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, strict confidentiality, discretion, courtesy and service
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, email, text and social media platforms, Adobe PDFs, and modern office equipment (e.g., copiers, scanners, tablet devices)
