Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply.

You should have excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, initiative, and communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, exercise independent judgment, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Located in Weill Hall on Cornell's Ithaca Campus, core business hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with very occasional evenings or weekends, depending on event coverage.
As the Weill Institute's Assistant to the Director, Programs and Events, you will:

- Enhance the Institute's online (websites, Twitter, LinkedIn) presence to increase public visibility, interest in, and engagement from external audiences.
- Create and maintain content for webpages and other materials pertaining to Institute research.
- Organize and promote 2 major (100+ participants) events annually and up to 2 smaller monthly events.
- Develop creative, professional, and effective communication materials for the Institute, including a major newsletter every 5 years for external audiences, a semi-annual personnel directory, and monthly internal email news updates.
- Promote awareness of Institute activities and people across the Ithaca and other campuses.
- Provide support for human resources, including coordination of faculty searches and grad student appointments, and financial aid processing.
- Ensure functionality and cleanliness of Institute common spaces, reserve conference rooms, and serve as a liaison to the Weill Hall Facilities Office.
What you bring:
- Associate's degree and 2 to 4 years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced, ever-changing service-oriented team environment.
- Experience organizing successful events with 100+ participants.
- Knowledge of creating and maintaining written content for websites, social media, and newsletters.
- High level of professionalism, approachability, and customer service experience.
- Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, initiative, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent attention to detail and experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, ability to work independently, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and situations effectively with high initiative.
- A cover letter and resume are required for consideration.
While a Bachelor's degree and prior experience working in an academic research environment are not required, experience in those areas is a plus!
