Job Description:
Oversees all aspects of DS4E-hosted and DS4E partner events, including monthly panels, office hours, in-person conference presentations, networking events, and 2 - 4 larger, state-level events per year. This includes coordinating with DS4E leadership for event design, coordinating with state and local partners for design and timing when applicable, identifying and inviting speakers, securing and staging event sites, coordinating logistics of onsite event support, and promoting events to our both ecosystem audience, new target audiences, and the general public.Â
Designs, executes, and evaluates programming across DS4E events aligned with our stakeholder engagement strategy to grow a strong national community and ecosystem through event series and other engagement opportunities.
Responsible for all communications, marketing, logistics, expenses/reimbursements, and administrative duties associated with events.
Compiles data to be used in event and program evaluation. Suggests improvements and assists with developing best practices.
Works with DS4E communications staff to coordinate content for monthly and ad hoc newsletters, website announcements, and social media accounts.
Builds and maintains relationships with potential speakers, organization leaders, and subject matter experts to independently design and suggest new events.
Identifies and maintains a calendar of new public engagement opportunities, including national or state education conferences, and tracks deadlines of session proposals.Â
Supports design, proposals, and proposal submission process to national education conferences in collaboration with other DS4E staff.Â
Coordinates events, researches logistics, assists with planning and preparing presentations, event outreach, and post-event write ups.
Maintains website (including but not limited to: employment page, news page, staff page, project pages, innovation challenge page).
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Â
Education:
Associate degree or higher in business administration, English, humanities, or a related field.Â
Experience:
2-5 years experience in operations and event planning in a fundraising or non-profit settings.
Prior experience working in K-12 education and/or familiarity with the K-12 education field.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Windows Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Learn new systems and software as necessary, including project management software (e.g. Asana / Notion).
Preferred Competencies
Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative with little supervision.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, with proven ability to juggle competing priorities with diplomacy, tact, and customer service.
Strong project and time management skills with a proven ability to multitask and to prioritize activities to successfully complete projects on tight deadlines.
Familiarity with organizing and managing events, ideally including public events for up to 150 people.
Intermediate database and strong digital tool skills, with the ability to jump between different project management and events software. Â
Working Conditions
Remote work.Â
Occasional travel, including nights and weekends.
