The Division of Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington serves all 43,000 undergraduate and graduate students. We are a team of 500+ faculty, staff, and students within 18 departments and programs located across campus working toward the common goal of student success.

The Social Media Coordinator is a key communicator for the Student Health Center, using relevant and intentional graphics, copy, videos, photos, and links via social media platforms to share events, promotions, and services that help tell the story and promote the services of the Student Health Center. The Social Media Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Office of Student Life. Members of Student Life Marketing participate in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary. Accepting work-study and non-work-study candidates.

Department Specific Responsibilities

• Develops innovative and creative media content in line with Student Health Center branding efforts (i.e. original text, photos, videos and news).
• Using a Content Matrix, strategizes, monitors, and posts on social media accounts to engage with the Indiana community regarding the services, promotions, events, and other offerings.
• Oversees and maintains the accounts on, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other relevant social media platforms.
• Creates, maintains, and consults the Communications Calendars for social media content, sharing stories with partners, and planning other promotions.
• Researches and analyzes social media trends to determine which platforms and methods will best reach target markets.
• Tracks stories, key search terms, and hashtags to develop relevant content.
• Creates monthly and quarterly social media analytics reports to determine effectiveness and the direction of future strategies.
• Works collaboratively with team members, colleagues, and campus partners to implement the most effective and engaging strategies.
• Monitors and amplifies the pulse of social media content on campus and partner with campus departments when necessary to strategically share content o Monitors and engages users on various review sites: Google, etc.
• Assists other social media coordinators with their accounts as needed.
• Collaborates with team members to use effective graphics, photos, videos, and copy for strategic posts o Helps with Student Life and Indiana Memorial Union social media efforts as needed Other Communications duties as needed.
• Strategizes various ad campaigns and messaging for summer and fall campaigns.
• Writes copy for ad campaigns and print pieces.
• Edits copy on various print and digital platforms.

EDUCATION

Required

• Currently enrolled as student at Indiana University

Preferred

• Pursuit of a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field.

SKILLS

Required

• Strong understanding of videos and video trends on social media platforms.
• Strong understanding of all current, relevant social media platforms.
• Experience with video editing on mobile devices
• Passionate about student wellbeing and mental health
• Familiarity in taking quality photographs and photography principles
• Familiarity using Microsoft Office programs
• Current Indiana University student
• Fine attention to detail
• Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others
• Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy
• Exceptional written and communication skills

Preferred

• Experience managing social media accounts that were not simply personal accounts
• Experience taking high quality pictures
• Experience and filming and editing (using CapCut or equivalent program) vertical videos to post to social media
• Understanding of effective marketing tactics
• Personable, comfortable talking to others
• Being comfortable directing others, including full-time staff and management
