Summary Position The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Housing Operations assists in the management of daily operations and functions for Residence Life, including direct work with the Associate Director of Residence Life for Operations and Facilities to manage a residential system with approximately 4,100 beds. This includes using the housing software system to manage room selection and room change processes, as well as operational needs such as early arrivals/late stays, summer campus/conferences support, health and safety checks, apartment and expanded housing support, and key management. The Assistant Director also provides support and oversight for the live-on staff, administrative staff, and provides leadership to others within the department. This individual works collaboratively with others across the university to develop a strong residential experience that integrates students' academic, residential, and social experiences. The Assistant Director will have authority and decision-making responsibilities connected to Station at Mill Point, Crest Apartments, Trollinger House, and other expanded housing options and serve in leadership roles for the department. This is a full-time, twelve-month, live-on professional position.

Education Requirements Completed bachelors degree and at least 2 years of post-bachelors experience in higher education required. Completed masters degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field and 1-2 years of experience (including graduate assistantships/apprenticeships) in [primary functional area] or a related functional area in higher education strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Respond to Residence Life operational needs and manage department projects at the direction of the Associate Director, including housing selection, marketing, reports, and assignments.
2. Responsible for day-to-day housing operations processes such as lease turnovers, withdrawals, part time requests, room changes, emergency/temporary housing, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs), etc.
3. Provider support and oversight to live-on staff and administrative staff and leadership for other staff in the department order to complete various operations and facilities related tasks.
4. Manage the process for opening, breaks, and closing, including residential room health and safety checks conducted after opening and during breaks.
5. Assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from housing issues brought forth by students, families, or by referral from the community. Utilize customer service skills via phone, email, and individual contact.
6. Additional Responsibilities
Create strong partnerships within the Student Life division and with other departments on-campus, including faculty, security/campus police, dining services, Disabilities Resources, Facilities Management, and administrative offices.
Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision making
Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation
Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes either serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role or providing initial outreach and follow-up support for student concerns
Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Education and Experience Completed masters degree and at least 2 years of post-masters experience in a related field required.
