Centre College invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. This position serves as a key member of the Athletics Administration, reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics and oversees and directs the communications efforts for 24 intercollegiate sports, managing a team of two Assistant Director of Athletics Communications, students, gameday staff, and professional staff with secondary duties in the area of athletics communications. This position also develops and implements a plan to provide high-quality, expansive video streaming for all sports; ensuring photography coverage; provides timely news releases, statistics, and coordinates a number of game day functions; website and social media functions; and serves as chief archivist and historian for the department. Involvement in marketing and development functions, athletics awards, and various other committee work is also anticipated. This position requires compliance with all NCAA, SAA, and Centre College rules and regulations and mindful of the College’s core values of diversity and inclusion.
Centre is constructing the $65 million Initiative for Wellness and Athletics Excellence (IWAE) project, set for completion during the first quarter of 2024. The transformational facility features a new indoor fieldhouse, with a 200-meter track plus indoor turf, a 50-meter natatorium, a new baseball facility, turfing of the softball field’s grass area and the instillation of an graphics display scoreboard, plus a new stadium for football, lacrosse, and track and field. Included in this strategic initiative is over 6,000 square feet of additional strength and conditioning space.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree and previous collegiate athletics communications experience required. Expert verbal and written communications skills, as well as interpersonal skills, required. In-depth, broad-based knowledge of collegiate sports is essential. Demonstrated skill in web maintenance, design software, and statistical programs a must. Previous experience with video software preferred, but not required. Previous experience with Division III, as a student-athlete or sports information professional, preferred. A commitment to the Division III philosophy; knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules; teamwork attitude; and a desire to work in a fast-paced, highly-successful Division III athletic department is a must. Additional qualifications include being self-motivated, visionary, positive, energetic, willingness to travel, and the ability to foster a team environment is needed.
