The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Senior Photographer. This position is a lead photographer on the Office of Marketing and Communications photo and video team. This position works collaboratively with art directors, social media strategists and producers, content strategists and producers, media specialists, marketers, videographers, and communicators across campus to produce visual content in support of the university's overall communications efforts.

Position Summary

Directs operations of a programmatic function. Operates with a high degree of independence. Responsible for program development, content and administration. Establishes program objectives, manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding. Prepares various reports for program

Duties and Responsibilities

• Produces photography for the university in outlets that may include news, marketing, websites, social media, headshots and event coverage.

• Develops concepts and captures photos in a variety of settings, including both indoor and outdoor environments and with the use of both natural and artificial lighting.

• Implements photography and photo shoots

• Photo editing and processing

• Creative development

• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

• Proven experience using Adobe Creative Suite

• Expertise in digital editing, workflow and color management, and functions independently but also be open to direction and input from others

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience shooting in a university or clinical environment

• Experience shooting indoors with varying lighting needs and challenges Some experience with videography Has expertise in digital editing, workflow and color management, and functions independently but also be open to direction and input from others
