POSITION DETAILS
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 60 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a Content and Social Media Specialist supporting the college's professionally-equipped performing arts space, the Theater at City Tech.
The Content and Social Media Specialist will be responsible for creating and distributing existing content across all communication media for the theater complex at City Tech.
The CSMS will administer content creation and distribution across media, including the website, newsletter, social media platforms, and print materials, among others. Content initiatives will focus on news and narrative projects from across the school around a variety of topics, including various events hosted by all outside clients. The Specialist will also work to promote and distribute content toward the goal of raising the profile and the social media presence of the theater and the college.
Reporting to the Performing Arts Director, the Content and Social Media Specialist will:
Administer and monitor general media and social media channels for relevant content to promote the goals of the theater.
Work with a team to develop, proof and edit content to distribute across channels, including social media, email, web, and print, among others.
Attend designated events for the purpose of creating content, including print/web content and video content for distribution.
Collaborate with stakeholders to create processes for content distribution.
Collaborate with the Office of Public Affairs to align the distribution and promotion of content.
Drive processes with stakeholders to align content distribution across all social media channels.
Generate content and use existing content created by our partners with the goal of maximizing exposure of the college, strategic initiatives and events.
Contribute actively to social media messaging on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook (and through other developing channels) to drive traffic.
Review of platform analytics for the purpose of strategic content analysis and development - ideal, but not required.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Performing Arts Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
At least five years of experience in performing arts or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated excellence and facility with all existing and emerging social media, web and email technologies, and an understanding of the nuances of social messaging for a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.
Ability to produce accurate and effective written materials in a variety of formats and within established timelines, and to synthesize complex materials into clearly understandable copy.
Ability to train and supervise others in content creation roles as needed.
Executive presence and ability to attend high visibility events as a representative of the college.
Excellent communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and accuracy in tasks; strong organizational and time management skills; and the ability to perform non-routine work with changing priorities and stringent deadlines.
Basic interview skills, with the comfort level and drive required to approach or pursue sources, in-person or via telephone/video call, for information required for content development.
Experience in collaborating with various stakeholder groups, including other writers on a creative team from concept to completion of projects and initiatives.

$79,188 - $86,645. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
