We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager, Finance and Administration who is a senior-level team member who handles all aspects of internal and external communications and marketing, for the Finance and Administration Organization. As a member of the Finance and Administration Senior Leadership Team, the role of the Communications Manager is to set the tone for messaging and create a platform for the EVP to share information, direction, and outreach with the Finance & Administration Organization. They will oversee both external and internal messaging and partner with university and divisional communicators in developing strategic communication plans.
This position is a dotted line report with University Communications & Marketing.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the EVP's communication efforts, from press releases and news stories for the JHU community to speeches and talking points for events and board meetings.
Manage messaging that is internal and external to Finance and Administration and community messaging to ensure it aligns with the institution's outreach strategies, brand guidelines and established values, mission, and vision.
Serve as the key communicator for the EVP.
Create a communications strategy for the organization.
Draft or oversee the drafting of high-level correspondence on behalf of the EVP.
Key Responsibilities
Build comprehensive communications plans that share objectives, timelines, key messages, and guidance for intended audiences.
Review and sometimes write talking points, FAQs, newsletters, brochures, press releases and other content for internal and external audiences and stakeholders.
Oversee F&A's website and social media to ensure they align with the institutions established brand and communication guidelines.
Ensure that all functions within Business & Finance follow the brand guidelines and ensure all team members follow proper messaging techniques before publishing materials.
Plan, coordinate, and implement public events, including panel discussions, town halls, and forums.
Represent the organization at conferences and other public events.
Partner with central office of communications and divisional leaders to develop crisis communications plans and procedures and assist in managing reputational issues and executing rapid response.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Five years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education is preferred but not required.
