Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Communications and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for the creation of content that promotes the Regis College brand to internal and external stakeholders utilizing key messaging points and compelling storytelling. The Communications and Social Media Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team who will implement a comprehensive external and internal communications program to support the advancement of the reputation and strategic plan of the university.
Essential Functions:
Create engaging and impactful content that reflects events happening at the university and highlights key differentiators and share on a variety of communications platforms.
Create and maintain content and recommend strategic direction for the university’s primary Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
Coordinate the university’s Brand Ambassador program.
Maintain the university’s social media calendar.
Maintain the university media list.
Research and draft compelling stories about students, faculty, staff, and alumni; build relationships with various internal departments and staff members to generate story ideas.
Serve as the primary point-of-contact for news media inquiries.
Draft and disseminate press releases and media advisories.
Coordinate the dissemination of student achievements through Merit software.
Track and archive university news coverage.
Serve as a member of the crisis communications response team.
Monitor the university’s online presence and reputation.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
Occasional night and weekend hours based on the university event schedule.
Requirements:
Entry-level professional experience with social media; must have experience creating compelling social media content, including TikTok.
A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or related major with experience in journalism, public relations, communications, or related field.
Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and oral presentation skills.
Experience writing for websites and social media required. Understanding of best practices in graphic design and website editing, a plus.
Experience in the use of new online tools, social media platforms and technologies.
Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Active contributor with skills to multitask and collaborate well with colleagues.
Ability to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
Ability to support confidentiality of sensitive information.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Following a three-month initial review period, this position may be eligible for remote work on a limited basis.
Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
Regularly uses computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
