Job Description Summary The Morrisey Lab is currently looking to hire a more senior technician/scientist position to fulfill diverse research needs. Ideal candidates are inquisitive, thoughtful and excited to be apart of a mission-driven, cutting-edge imaging and genomics discovery research team in the field of regenerative medicine. Based on technical skills and previous job experience/education, positions will work either independently or under the training of a senior scientist and will gain technical assistance and mentorship from additional staff scientists, including Dr. Morrisey, to achieve impactful human health research and to achieve their own personal career goals. The team is ideally looking for someone who can commit to work in the lab for a minimum of 3 years.
Our lab has a long-standing track record of advancing and training the next generation of scientists with over 30 postdocs, 10 graduate students and 25 undergraduates students completing training in our lab, all of whom have gained admittance into professional and medical schools, found fulfilling positions in the academic or private biotech/ pharmaceutical sectors while co-authoring papers in preeminent scientific journals. Job Responsibilities
Molecular Biology benchwork as needed: Nucleic Acid and Protein Isolation/Purification techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, Quantitative Real Time PCR, Affinity chromatography, flow cytometry, cytospin analysis and Next Generation Sequencing library preparation.
Perform sterile cell culture techniques on primary cells, embryonic stem cells, in vivo lung explants and established cells culture lines including cell passaging, freezing down cells and cell differentiation assays, 3-D organotypic culture assays, DNA transfection/creation of stable cell lines expressing exogenous DNA, Soft Agar colony assays, Transmigration assays, Dual Gene Reporter assays. -
Participate in general laboratory chores including EHRS compliance, Chemical inventory, BSL-2 waste management, animal husbandry/genotyping
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in research, clinical study, project and people management or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
